As I have mentioned in past blogs.... I love sterling silver.... Part of my love could be my appreciation of the workmanship and the craft of silversmithing. Over the years I have been fortunate to tour famous Silver Ateliers in Europe and have been witness to the skilled tradesman that have shared this incredible art and skill with the next generations. When you see the time and workmanship that goes into these pieces, you appreciate the natural beauty of this metal and the hands that create it and elevate it to an art form.
Below is a photo of a new, but old design by Jean Puiforcat, who was at the forefront of design in the French Art Deco Period. Jean begun his career in 1920 at the family silversmithing business in Paris. His designs are highly sought after in the antique world, as well as the reproductions of his designs produced by the Puiforcat Company, which is now owned by Hermes. Here is my newest love.....an amazing sterling tea set. Share my love of sterling...and help keep this art alive!
