New Timeless Timepiece by Cartier

….the long awaited stainless steel Ballon Bleu by Cartier.
This fascinating Cartier watch got its name from the exclusive sapphire cabochon in the winding mechanism. The watch face orbits around this cabochon, which is protected with a precious metal arch. This absolutely cool watch appears round, but it really is not. Intriguingly shaped to almost appear elliptical, the watch is rounded on the top and the bottom. The glass on the watch face magnifies the black Roman numerals on it making them appear as if they were moving.

The Ballon Bleu is available in three sizes: small, mid-size and large.

It is water resistant to 30 meters for all your water lovers!

I personally love to wear the large men’s size….

Royal Cophenhagen "Old Classics to a New Tradition"

From an Old Classic to a New Tradition....

When Royal Copenhagen was contacted by young design student, Karen Kjældgård-Larsen, with a proposal for a new version of their famous pattern Blue Fluted little did they know.......Taking the pattern making it much larger and repeating it in fragments took this classic pattern and brought it completely up to date.

Fluted "Mega" available in Blue and Black.

Michele Oka Doner

I love artists whose works have been inspired by nature and Michele Oka Doner is one. Wearing one of her designs and cuff bracelets. She simply takes bits of nature and rearranges them. The result is a cross between Mother Nature and a metalsmith.

Some of my favorite pieces of her work include in the photographs above "burning bush" in which the skeleton of a shrub becomes a candelabra, a piece she did for Steuben, the Ocean Reef Bowl. utilizing branches of coral cast in bronze with a magnificant copper wheel engraved bowl, and the clutch bag in colaboration with Nancy Gonzalez.

Bangles ....if you are looking to add to your collection

This is a rewrite...... I am the type that when I come across something this good, love it, and wear it daily, it deserves to be mentioned again. These are still my favorite bangles, a year later. They are still going strong......all 18 of them. I have added a few more since my last post. They are part of my uniform, with a couple skinny diamond bangles as an added surprise.

"Organic Form"

"Organic Form"
2009 by artist Pontus Wilfors
Gallery: SHAME: California Institute for the Arts Valencia, CA
Opening 2/12/09

This "amazing tree" is 20 feet in diameter and 11 feet high. "Organic Form" by artist Pontus Wilfors was made with 75 pieces of avocado wood from the Simi Fire of 2003 that killed several fields of avocado trees on a ranch in Southern California. The artists' inspiration for this project was to re-create a tree using the trees that had been destroyed.

Pontus added "I sometimes think of it as a Frankenstein tree" .
