Cartier 100 Years in America

If only I had a handbag worthy of engraving my address.........
This is one of my favorites pieces from Cartier's 100 Years in America exhibit. As Frédéric de Narp, president and chief executive of Cartier North America, said “there is no fashion at Cartier, there are no seasonal products. There is just the timelessness of something valuable and cherished for generation after generation.” This show confirms just that.
The timeless designs, the people who wore them ............. an intriguing part of our American American History. Well worth the trip.

Cartier Skeleton Santos....

Obviously Timeless and Very Cool.........

Alberto Santos-Dumont was one of the early pioneers of aviation, and he needed a more suitable timepiece for his dare devil flights. He asked his friend Louis Cartier to design something for him and the "Santos" was born in 1904. Now 100 years later, the Santos has a new look: an over sized case equipped with the 9611 MC skeleton movement manufactured entirely by Cartier. This innovative shaped movement with sculpted roman numerals, a sapphire crystal on the front and the rear exposing elegant inner workings using all of the space provided by the large palladium case. With its double barrel movement, it enables 72 hours of continuous timekeeping.
